TRAVELLING ALONE.
GOOD ADVICE TO GIRLS, Y.W.C.A. MOVEMENT. At the last general conference of th» Young Women's Christian Associations of New Zealand it was decided that a placard' containing suggestions to women and girls travelling alone should be hung in the women's waiting-rooms of the principal railway stations throughout the Dominion-, This resolution has just been carried into - effect, and the suggestions, clearly printed and well framed, are now to be seen at the stations, the Minister for Railways having consented to make no charge in the matter. In view of the allegations .which have been frequently made of late regarding the insecurity of young girls who have to travel alone, the suggestions should do :' ' good. They are based on . some of those circulated by the Travellers' Aid Society; of London, an influential body of which Lady Frances Balfour is president. The Young Women's Christian Associations of New Zealand are the accredited agents pi this society.. The suggestions read as follow:—• (1) Never start anywhere without knowing the exact name and address of the person to whom yon are goings and be sure you notify them of the time and day of your arrival.
