, Dress and Fashion. Fashions i Now [ Showing \ The House that caters for tho woman of taste and refinement must be ever on the alert to keep fully abreast with the times, no time, energy, or expense must be spared in securing the very best selection possible, and then the goods must be shown so as to fully display their beauty and elegance. A visit to tho Model House to-day or-to-morrow will convince you that here may be seen a collection of fashionable goods that would be difficult to surpass even in the most noted fashion houses of Europe. At the first glance this appears to be a stretch of the imagination, but on several occasions lady clients who have made extensive toUrs abroad, have expressed themselves to the same effect, and have also i stated that the goods are marked at a lower price here in Auckland than in .Loudon. The Firm have also had evidence at various times that the above comparisons are correct. While a visit to the Model House is inter- , esting and instructive at any time, yet • we extend a very special invitation to you < to promenade through during the autumn show. The windows are exceedingly taste- ■ ful, and display goods that give some perception of tne lovely goods within. The frocks, coats, furs, and millinery in, the large window are a revelation of what) lovely displays can be made when tho goods shown are of the very highest order of merit. Our London Buyers, who have proved themselves to be peculiarly well able to forecast the fashions, place Purple 'first in the list of the colourings of the season, other shades showing largely being jLiime, Tan, Black-Purple, Hoft Beaver, Greys, and Mole tones. The new materials of the season for the more dressy styles will be found in Whipcords and Diagonal Weaves, Velour or fciueue cloths, both plain and in cat out stripes and corduroys; while Tweeds, Serges, and Cloths will still be worn by the majority. The inside displays are more entrancing than ever, tables being simply, yet effectively, dressed with the new colour combinations, the goods shown generally comprising a Frock, Hat, Coat, Trimmings, and materials, all inaKing one harmonious whole. A feature of the season's stocks is the magnifioent assortment of Evening Dresses, at present numbering about '&0, ranging in price from i to 18 guineas. One that will attract much notice is in an extremely new style, a new shade of lime ! accordeon-pleated ninon, over white satin, ! double skirt, fringed to match, the bodice ; finished at waist with deep crimson rose, priced at 10 guineas. J Another very striking creation is a cerise satin evening dress, with tunic of purple ninon, finished with handsome gold braid, priced at 5 guineas. Priced at 15 guineas ia a French Model Evening Gown of ivory Oriental satin, veiled with accordeon-pleated net, with an artistic drape of silver and pearl, caught up and finished with bows of pink satin. A. French Model of navy charmeuse, with aooordeon-pleated underskirt, finished with red beads, silk lined, at 12 guineas, should certainly be admired. This season' the Millinery Department has excelled itself. Velours and Felts are predominant, while the styles are not quito so elaborate as in former seasons. Ready-to-Wears are very prominent, and i will be found in charming taste. Here we note a charming Model Hat of mole velvet, massed with lancer ruches, ostrich feathers drooping over back, flame-coloured lining, at 90s. One of the smartest models is of black velvet, with linnetrgreen lancer feather, lined in ninon and satin of same shade, and is priced at 6 guineas. Amongst the many we select three for special mention. First, an exquisite model in s white satin, new draped style, deep pointed collar, edged with fringe, lined with charmeuse, at 124 guineas. Next, an oyster-white cloth evening coat, deep collar and revers, trimmed with wide sills braid, silk lined, at 11 guineas.
