HELENSVILLE HOT SPRINGS.
REMAIN UNDER LOCAL' CONTROL. • ; ■ ■ . - [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Tuesday. The following letter has been received by the clerk of the Heleneville Town Board from the Minister for Tourist and Health Resorts, the Hon- R. H. Rhodes: —" Dear Sir, — In reply to your letter of February 10, and also other communications with reference to the Helensville Hot Springs being taken over and managed by the Government, I have to advise you that after giving the matter consideration, the Cabinet has decided that it will be more advisable for the management of the domain and springs, to remain under the control of the local authority. The Government will be prepared to assist to a reasonable extent from time to time in developing the springs, and will favourably consider applications for assistance in this respect. I gathered during my recent visit that it was not the unanimous wish of the residents that the springs should be handed over to the Government, and .think that the granting of reasonable assistance to the Domain Board in improving the accommodation and develops ing the spring area will be found to be the most satisfactory solution of the pro* blem."
