Bomb excellent work by wireless was accomplished by the Marconi operator on the Tyfl <ar. steamer Hawke's Bay on the voyage out : from London. Crossing the Southern Ocean the Durban station was spoken at a distance of 1200 miles, and the Blue Funnel liner. Ascanius was V picked up at a range of 1000 miles. On the run from Sydney to Auckland the vessel was in communication with the stations at Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Wellington, and Suva, which were heard %• > very distinctly.
