FINE OF £5 INFLICTED. Michael O'Brien, who was originally charged with theft from the person, robbery of £25, and a third charge of assault, but who was found guilty of common assault only, was brought- up for sentence. Mr. Hnckett appeared on the accused's behalf, and pointed out. that the assault took the form of a blow with the open hand, given as the result of an accusation of theft. . His Honor, in view of the fact that itie accused had boen in custody since January 1, thought a fine would meet the case. The accused paid a fine of £5, and was discharged.
