' ■•; . Mexico City, February 24. The tragic deaths of Madero (exPresident of Mexico) and Saurez (ex-Vice-President) have had little effect on the . general rejoicings over the declaration of peace. The Cabinet has ordered the arrest of the officers . concerned in the affray in which Madero was killed. , The United States Minister asserts that the crime occurred as the result of an attempt made by Madero's friends to rescue him whilst he was on his way to the prison, whither he was being transferred with Saurez at the suggestion of the Minister in order that they might secure : more comfortable quarters.
