Euchan, second engineer of the steamer Star of England, was charged by William I TaUis, a fireman, with assault. ■ |.y It was alleged that a row started in th.* v; forecastle on Saturday night, and Valli3 | : - went to get Buchan to intervene. Buchan, £ however, according to complainant's evidence, responded by ordering him to " get out," emphasising the order by knocking '.Vallis down and kicking him- " For the defence it was alleged that the ;. men in the forecastle had been drinking, : and chased one of their number, a Russian ■ Finn, out of the quarters.
