CYCLING.
WELLINGTON TO AUCKLAND.
Two young men— A. Iggulden, well known as an amateur boxer in Melbourne, and It. Wainwright—have just completed an interesting trip through the North Island. Being keen cyclists, they conceived the idea of cycling to Auckland, and on February 1 they set out on their long journey. Each man carried an outfit containing provisions, etc., which weighed ,551b. and about 40 miles were covered each day, a camp being made by the roadside each livening. The journey to Napier was uneventful, and no fault could be found with the roads; but there was a different story to relate when the Auckland provincial bound ary was crossed, most or the roads until the city was reached being extremely rough. Bad weather was also encountered during the later stages of tho trip. The twain proceeded via Wairarapa. Napier. Tatipo, Rotorua, Tauranga, Waihi, and Hamilton, all the principal scenic resorts being visited on route. The machines came to grief on several occasions, a broken back wheel, broken front, axle, buckled frame, and broken forks resulting; from heavy jars. There were also numerous punctures, but. as the trip was a holiday one little discomfort was caused. Tho road from Dannevirke 'to Napier was described as being excellent. and on one day no I"S3 than 90 miles were covered. The cyclists reached Auckland on Friday. Ltxx.
