STEAMER RUNS INTO WHARF.

Considerable difficulty was experienced at Levuka recently in berthing the steamer Navua, owing to the inclement condition of the weather. In approaching th& wharf she was caught by the southerly wind prevailing. Despite the effect of reversed engines and the casting cf the anchor, she struck the structure with her bow and did considerable damage, ripping up a portion of the decking and rails, and smashing also a fender and post. The vessel sustained very little damage, and the damage to the wharf has since been repaired by. th« Government Works Department.
