WATERFRONT FATALITY.
DEATH OF A SHIPS COOK An inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Charles Henry Hodge, ; cook on the schooner Clio, whe died in the hospital on Thursday as the result of a fall, was commenced yesterday by the coroner (Mr. T. Gresham). Evidence of identification was given bj Dr. C. E. Maguire, medical superinten dent at the Auckland Hospital. Witness also detailed deceased's injuries, stating that he had been suffering . from a broker leg and a fracture at the base of th( skull when he was admitted to the lies pita! . - Dr. A. Kinder, who attended deceasec after the accident, gave evidence to th< effect that a post-mortem examination hac revealed the fact that death had been du< to the fracture at the base of the skull. As several witnesses were unable ,to b< present yesterday the inquest wast ad journed until Monday week.
