TO CUBE CHAPPED HANDS.
When a change in tlie weather nets in many peoplu .suffer with chapped ham's, very often because they do not dry them carefully after washing, and the fresh air„ acting on the damp skin, ' produces a soreness and irritation which sometimes results in cracks and irritation between fingers and on fnger-tips which are not easy to heal. An excellent and very simple euro is soap and. glycerin used in tho following manner : The last tiling at night, just bofore getting into bed, wash the hands in warm, not hot, water. Soap tho hands, and lather tho soap thoroughly all over the back and front and wrists. Then, without rinsing them, pour half a teaspoonful of glycerine into the palm of tho .left hand, rub the hands together till it is absorbed in the lather, and keep on rubbing gently till the mixture 'is spread equally, when take a soft towel and, without rinsing, wipe tho hands as dry as can be; even then they will feel sticky. Put on a pair of white kid- or thread gloves and sleep in them, and in the morning the "chaps" will be much better. Continue the treatment as long as the skin is sore. Do not use cheap scented eoap, planner kinds are best. Those who are not afraid of using soap to the face may try a similar process hero, lessening the quantity of soap rubbed on, but using tho half-tea-spoonful of glycerine. It is well, however, after wiping off the lather, to bathe tho face in clean water, warm or cold, and, after drying, to dust the skin with a little good powder.
