LATE BISHOP LENIHAN.
To-day is the third . anniversary of this death of the Eight Rev. George' Michael Lenihan, D.D., late Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland. The late Bishop Lenfhaii was held in high esteem by all sections of the community for his geniality and largeness of heart, and his warm ohnrity and liberal views. His death was startling in iia suddenness, and came as -a-great shock to all -who knew him. His Lordship, who was on a visit to Wbangarei, retired to rest on Monday night, February 21,1910, apparently in good health, but as he did not appear at the usual time for Mass anxiety was felt, and tho door of his room was opened by father Patterson, who found the body lying cold in bed. Tho position was perfectly natural, and indicated that the good Bishop had passed -peacefully away probably shortly after he retired to rest' He had died, as he had often expressed a wish to, in harness. Tho anniversary of Bishop Lenihan's death is to ho commemorated at _ IJfc. Patrick's Cathedral at nine o'clock this morning by the holding of a solemn requiem Mass.
