"PRESS WEEK" IN AUCKLAND

FOUR. IMPORTANT GATHERINGS.

Several important : press gatherings will be held in Auckland during the next ten days. This morning the directors, of the United Press Association will' meet in the Chamber of Commereo rooms to transact business, preparatory' to the annual meeting of the association, which will take place on Wednesday : next at 2.30 p.m. Mr.. H. Horton, the chairman, will preside, and the following directors 3 lave arrived in. Auckland to take part in the proceedings : Mr. George Fenwick (Otago Daily Times), Mr. .0. S. Smith (Dunedin Star-), Mr. P. Selig (Christchurch Press), Mr. L. BlundeU (Wellington Post), and Mr. G. Carson (Wanganui Chronicle). Mr. W. H. Ataclc, manager of the association,, has 1 also arrived in Auckland, while Mr. Fred ■ Pirani (Foilding Star) is expected this morning. The directors also include Mr. H. Brett (Auckland Star), who will attend the conference.

The annual meeting of the* Newspaper Proprietors' Association will be held on' Monday night. Mr. SeHg, the president,, will occupy the chair. At noon on Tuesday the annual meeting of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Presu Union will take place. The president,-- Mr. Fenwick, is to preside. \ : •
