New York, January 4. A band of armed automobile bandits at Chicago wrecked the window of a jeweller's shop to-day, and escaped with a tray of diamonds.
A fashionably dressed woman fainted in the arms of a policeman as the robbers were escaping, and prevented him from drawing his revolver. She then vanished. It is supposed that she was an accomplice.
Another policeman afterwards stopped the automobile on a charge of furious driving. The inmates invited the constable to step into the car and then shot him and threw out his body and escaped.
