TRAMWAYMEN'S DEMANDS.
SEEKING A CONFERENCE.
After several \teeks of active preparation the Auckland Tramways Union lias at last arrived at a basis for new demands to bo submitted to the company. An increase in wages all round is being asked for, and also a general improvement in the working conditions. The union has given ■special attention to gaining increases for the workers in the smaller departments, who, it was considered, did not fare so well as others when the last agreement between the company and the union was arrived at 12 months ago. The new demands were submitted to the company yesterday, and a conference has been asked for. Should' the company favourably receive the request for a conference it will probably commence on Thursday next.
