AMENDING THE TARIFF.

THE MINISTER'S ACTIVITY

Proposals for an amended Customs tariff are to be submitted to Parliament by thft Hon. F. M. B. Fisher next session In order to make himself thoroughly ac quainted with everything connected with the manufacture of goods locally, and also with the distribution of locally-made and imported goods, the Minister intends to inspect every factory of importance in the Dominion, and also as many wholesale and l etail stolen as lie can in the time at his disposal. During his recent stay in Christchurch, Mr. Fisher-spent aome time in the factories in that city, and he will also inspect those m Auckland, Wellington; aSI Pugedin, and in soma of tho smaller towns.
