London, December 12. The railwaymen on strike will hold a conference with the North-Eastern Railway Company to-day.
The Home Office has appointed a commission to inquire into the case of Knox, the engine driver, over whose reduction in rank the strike arose.
The strike has thrown 20,000 miners out of work.
The situation is easier, and the Mayor of Newcastle is acting as mediator at a conference at which both sides are represented.
