ONLY A BOARDER.

"FATHER IN' DEBT TO DAUGHTER.

Some unusual features were disclosed during the hearing of a judgment summons'' case at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M., in which a young woman sought to recover the sum of £34 17s from her father, William Wait-e.

The defendant, in the course of examination, admitted having borrowed £30 from his daughter, and also admitted that his wife had obtained a maintenance order against him for 20s a week. He added that he was only boarding at the time, and that lie paid £1 a week for his board. On and after January 14, he said, he would have to pay his wife a further £1 a week as maintenance. As he was earning only £2 18s a week, he offered to pay off his liability to his daughter at the rate of 3s a week. If the Court would consider tho £1 a week, that he paid as board money, to bo the £1 a week required under the maintenance order, ho expressed his willingness to pay more to his daughter. In answer to the magistrate, the defendant said that his " missus" had told him to go elsewhere for his board, " but,"_ ho added, " we're living together all rightnow." Tho magistrate made an order for tho payment of tho debt at the rat© of 15s a week.
