NO MORE VERANDAH POSTS.

CITY COUNCIL TAKINC. ACTION*.

Tni.iiK is in many cities a movement for the abolition of verandah posts and the adoption of the suspended type of verandah. As a result of an application regarding a new verandah in Queen-street, the City Council decided last night that the By-laws Committee should consider the framing of a by-law providing for the suspension of verandahs. In the meantime, those who are putting up new buildings are to be interviewed by the City Engineer with a view to having the suspended type adopted wherever possible.
