An -old and highly-respected resident of Waihi, in the person or Mr. Edward HaJL,.died ad the Waihi Hospital yesterday' morning. Death was the result of acute pleurisy. Deceased, who was 65 years of age, leaves a widow and a young daughter.' The Hon. A. L. Herdman has accepted the invitation of tho Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Civil Servico Association to be present at its annual dinner in Christchurch on Saturday. December w. ___ ■ Mr. Evelyn Wrench, organiser of the Overseas Club, • has been visiting Hamilton. Ho addressed a meeting there on Wednesday evening'. As the result of Mr. Wrench's efforts a branch of the club is to be formed in Hamilton. Mr. , and : Miss Wrench have left Auckland, for an. extended trip through the North and South Islands, in, the interests of the Overseas Club. During their visit Mr. Wrench hopes to address . branches of the Overseas Club at the following centres Wellington, Palmerston North, Masterton, Napier, Gisborne,v Wanganui. Marton, Fcildmg, Huntervill*,.Nelson, Westport, Timaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill.
