"ON OUR SELECTION."
Tin; second performance of Steele Rudd'o amusing comedy. "On Our Selection,"' was witnessed by a very largo audience at His Majesty's Theatre last night. As "Dad," Mr. Bert Bailey gave another fine interpretation of the part, mid from start to finish the audience, showed its appreciation of his work by enthusiastic applause. The various humorous incidents of the play evoked much laughter.
MADAME KIRKBY LUNN. Madame Kirkby Lunn, tho famous operatic contralto, who opens her Auckland season next Monday night, sails from Sydney to-day, and is' due to arrive on Sunday afternoon. Much in tho concerts which she will give here is being shown, and a brilliant season is expected. Madame Lunn is particularly fortunate in having the support of three such capable artists as Mr. William Murdoch, the solo pianist, Mr. Andrew Shanks, the baritone, and M. Andre de Ribaupierre, the violinist', each of whom have made a genuine success in Australia The box plans are now open at Wildman and Arey's, and the five and three chilling tickets will be on. sale to-morrow morning at. Messrs Eady and Company's music warehouse, Queenstreet. BARRY CONEY RECITAL.
At this evening's recital at the Town Hall, Mr. Barry Coney .will introduce some young voices of exceptional merit to lovers of music in Auckland. The programme indicates that a very high standard lias been attained, and includes operatic airs and duets, vocal trios, ballads, piano solos and duos, and pari songs.
GRAND BENEFIT CONCERT. A grand benefit concert will be held ill the Town Hall on Friday, on behalf of a widow and five children, who have been suddenly bereft of their breadwinner and left totally unprovided for. There are no less than 19 different performers on the programme. The price of admission is 2s and Is. The box plan is at Wildman's, and day sales at Eady's and Miss Campion's.
THE- OPERA HOUSE. N
The Opera House' was again well attended last night, when the programme inaugurated on Monday was repeated. Mile. Cecile greatly ; pleased with her dancing, and Eldred arid Carr earned applause for, their novel performance. - The remaining artists all gave highly satisfactory "turns."
PICTURE ENTERTAINMENTS. The- usual change of programme will' bo presented at the Royal Albert Hall at the" matinee to-day, when, in addition to a series of scenic, dramatic, and comic pictures, tho exciting drama, " The Leap to Death," will be 4 screened. To-morrow night pictures* of' Cadeto will be screened. " The Miller of Burgundy" is .. the " star attraction in the present fine pro- ~ gramme at the King's- Theatre, y; Vf / " The Potrol Bandit" is proving a popular pidture' with visitors to the Lyrio Theatre. The current is ; one of all-round excellence.
