SELF-DENIAL WEEK.
£15,906 FOR NEW ZEALAND.
AUCKLAND'S TOTAL, £3890. The results of the Salvation Army's annual " self-denial" week were announced last night. The total amount collected in the Dominion was £15,906, a record for New Zealand, and an increase of £1426 on last year's total.
The amount collected by th© Auckland division was £3890, an increase of £568 on last year's collection, and of this sum £1025 was collected by the Auckland city corps, as against £526 collected by the same corps hist year. The amount contributed by the Auckland citizens must be accounted a. remarkably large one, when it is remembered that during this year tho citizens have been called upon for contributions by numerous other deserving organisations. In Dunedin £3463 was raised. Chrißtchurch contributed: £2779, and Wellington headed) the list with a total of £5780, of which £1115 was raised by the Wellington city corps. The Auckland contribution has in previous years been the lowest made by the capital cities, but this year the city has eclipsed all its previous offerings.
The corps contributing the largest sum was Gisbome, whoso offerings totalled £1200. This is the leading offering for Australasia, Sydney corps being next with a total of £1142.
Other offerings were :—Newton, £278 Devonport, £123 ; Parnell, £210 Otahuhu, £93; Onehunga, £152.
