THE TRENTHAM MEETING

j [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] I Wellington, Saturday. j TUB programme for the Trentlham rifle meeting for which entries close on February 13. shows that the A series comprises seven events under service conditions, viz., the regimental teams' match, observation and mutual assistance match, casualty competition, Islington cup matoh. C.A.C. cup match, competition in superiority of fire, and team*' championship. The B series is compulsory on all competitors under 30 yearn of age. and described as individual service matchers. Other events include vanishing target, running man, etc., and service championship. O series is the Ballinger belt contest, and consists of seven qualifying matches and the final. j

AKARANA DEFENCE CLUB. Ideal -weather conditions for shooting prevailed on Saturday, when the members of the Akarana Defence Eifle Club fired their usual trophy matches at Penrose. Unfortunately, owing to the inadequate target facilities provided at Penrose, riflemen were unable to fully avail themselves of the first fine day experienced during the present f 63,8 '???- .5™ competitions on Saturday were for W. Thome's .trophy (A section), A. Ferguson 6 (B). and J. H. Parslow's (O. Ten shots only were fired, at 500 yds, and some good scores wero registered. M. N. Bay won in a O section competition completed on Wednesday. Cox.
