The diamonds for tho Government drill (now at the Thames for the purpose of locating tho Moanataiari slide) are not obtainable in Wellington, and the Department has telegraphed to Nelson in tho hope of getting them there. Mr. Lindsay, tho Government expert in eliarge of the drill, is obliged to await tho Government diamonds, otherwise the offer of Mr. W. F. Grace, general manager of tho Waihi Grand Junction mino to supply £700 worth of diamonds, sufficient to equip the drill, would doubtless be accepted. In the meantime operations at the 1000 ft level, stopped by the inspector of mines on September 6, seem likely to be further delayed. SAXON. Only one tender, £1 17s 6d per foot, was received for driving tho 100 ft crosscut at tho bottom of tho shaft at No.. 7 level at the Saxon mine. As this was considered too high, tho manager has been instructed to put on fA~o shifts with rook drills. THAMES WARDEN'S COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Friday. Mollis, license for the Tui "Extended claim; J. Dunlop, residence site license. An application by N. L. Gurr for a prospecting license over 20 acres at Maharahara which was objected to by C. A.
