MR. GLOVER WRONGLY PAIRED

[by TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL' correspondent.] Wellington, Wednesday. Early this morning. Mr. A. E. Glover (Auckland Central) mad© a personal explanation in the, House of Representatives regarding the recording of his vote on the second reading of the Land Bill. He stated that he had intended to vote for the Bill, but, as he was paired with Mr. Dickson (Parnell), his vote had been recorded against the Bill. Mr. Dickson. "explained that he had taken it for granted that Mr. Glover would vote against the Government on the Land Bill. ' Mr. Gutlirie,_ Senior Government Whip, stated that his pair-book contained the following entry : —" Paired on all party questions Dickson for, Glover against." He made the entry on the authority of Mr. Dickson, and, as Mr. Glover had been a consistent supporters of tho Opposition party, he took it for granted that Mr. Glover would vote with that party against the Land Bill. Mr. Guthrie added that ho had taken steps to have the record of the division corrected in Hansard. The division list is not affected, as both Mr. Glover and Mr. Dickson were absent.
