GiSUOiint., Sunday, A tic; public meeting was held in Peelstreet on Saturday evening under the auspices of the General Labourers' Union to | protest against the suspension of work at the Napier end of the East Const railway. The following resolution was carried unanimously :—" That this meeting views with alarm the suspension of work at the j Napier end of the. Gisborne-Napier rail- ! way, and urges the Government to vigorj ousiy prosecute this work until both points 1 are connected by fail."
