It is likely that some considerable time will elapse before the last is heard of The Native apnea! case. The judges appointed bv the. Conierence have surprised everybody bv the decision delivered on Wednesday. What" the appellants thought would be the position was that the judge would merely decide whether or nor an appeal did lie from a "question of fact," which at present is a much-discussed point. The judges, however, have broken new ground Mr. J. Bull alleged that he was not afforded a. fair opportunity to call evidence, and the Canterbury stewards are to have an opportunity of refuting this, If, as is reported, no minutes were taken ats the original inquirr. prnbablv the appeal judges will order the whole ease, to bo reopened. At the meeting of the anpeal judges- last evening evidence was given by J. Bull, C Price, S. Gibbons, and F. Tutchen (rider of Uranium), while Mr. ,T. Jackson, owner of bilver Cluse, forwarded an affidavit.
