NEW ZEALAND CADETS IN CANADA.

ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECEIVED.

The following letter regarding the New Zealand cadets in Canada comes from Mr. John Reid, of Toronto, an ex-New Zear lander:—

"It is with pride and satisfaction I write this letter. I have been present on several occasions at, the Canadian National Exhibition, and 1 have felt very proud indeed of young New Zealand. They are indeed a. very fine lot of young fellows, and gained great praise when they made their appearance before the grandstand audience, more ! : o than any of the other cadets. I was conversing with F. It. Coombs/ of lieriiuera; a fine manly young fellow he is. lie showed me around the camp and introduced me to the other lads, and we had. a pleasant time talking of Auckland. I was delighted to have the opportunity of meeting them, as it is six years since I left New Zealand. 1 don't suppose there is a prouder bunch of chaps anywhere in the British Empire than those lads, and they deserve to be proud. ' My! Won't their mothers feel happy when they got home !' Thus spoke a lady in the grandstand at the Exhibition, when the New Zealand cadets were marching back to their places after being presented with the prizes won by them, in the different competitions. They won the Lord Stratlicona cup for physical drill, the Exhibition cup and Daughters of the Empire cup for manual exercises and general appearance; also the Exhibition cup for tug-of-war.. There was hearty applause for all commands as they marched tip to receive their prizes, but most for the New Zealanders, who carried off six trophies. In fact, so often did the officer with the magaphono call out ' Won by New Zealand' that the audience began to be merry about it. 'They will have to charter a ship to take the prizes home,' said a jocular 'party in the grandstand. These boys are having the time of their lives in Toronto, as nothing has been leftundone to make their stay pleasant, anil profitable and to have everyone .enjoy himself to the utmost."
