PERIOD NOW COMPLETED. [BT TELEGRAPH.— SPECIAL correspondent.] .... Wellington, Friday. During the past) year the registration of barmaids under the law of 1910 lias been completed. A total of 1062 registrations was effected, and each person concerned was supplied with a. certificate. A fow cases of hardship occurred whero registration was necessarily refused on account of tho applications not having been received by June 1, 1911, the date specified in the Act. Others wore cases where by reason of illness or temporary absence a number of applicants, who wero bona fido barmaids, had not served the required three months in hotel bars in New Zealand during the 'preceding year, aa required by tho jLMk.
