LAKE TAKAPUNA WATER SUPPLY.
COMPLAINTS FROM RESIDENTS.
At the meeting of the Waitemata County Council yesterday, the following letter was received from Dr. Monk, of the Auckland branch of the Health Department: —" From time to time users of the LaKfl Takapuna water either appear in person or write to this office complaining of the liability of their water supply to be polluted by the drainage from houses and cottages erected around the shores <" Lake. Takapuna. As this lake- supplier nearly 10,000 people with water it is very necessary that great care should be exercised in the granting of permits to build in this locality, and no permits should be granted until your engineer is satisfied that the methods proposed for dealing with slop water and bath and sink waste water, etc.. shall be stringent enough to prevent pollution of the lake." The Council considered that the matter did not come under its jurisdiction, air the communication was merely ' T*" ceived."
