FIRE AT GREENLANE
VOLUNTEER BRIGADE'S FIRST CALL ■-;".' A ; Eire occurred yesterday afternoon at ; ••:'■ ■■- Great South Road, Greenlane, when the X? supper-room of the Wapiti Hotel, owned -by Mr. Morrison, who resides near by, '?-■/: was gutted. The newly-formed Greenlane >•-' Volunteer Brigade was summoned, and its members were quiefcly in attendance under .-. Foreman Blewden, and though they were ■;'' unable to save the supper-room, by dint of hard work they were able to prevent if:- th* fire spreading to the main hail. The damage amounted to about £30. • This is the first occasion since its incep- * ■ lion a few weeks ago that the Greenlane iif.. Brigade has had a call, and it says much '}$■' for its efficiency that it was in attendance within a-quarter of an hour after receiving the alarm.
