BUSY SEASON FOR FIRE BRIGADE.
"Is there a regular firo season?" the superintendent of the Adelaide Fire Brigade was asked last week. "Yes, most certainly," was his reply. " Many people laugh at the idea, but tho proof of the pudding, of course, is in the eating, and our records show there is most certainly a fire season." He explained that so far this .year there had been no serious outbreaks of fire, and the brigade had been having rather a quiet period. The record kept at the head station of the calls received showed that the " fire season" began, about October and lasted until March, reaching the highest point between November and January. The winter months wens periods of comparative safety, but bet/ween the months mentioned as the " fire season" tho brigade looked forward to » busy time. For instance, of the 352 calls received last year, 58 Were in November, 27 in December, 42 in January, and then there was a. steady diminution towards the winter months. Similar records for previous years confirmed this view.
