THE CRIMINAL SITTINGS.

OPEN THIS MORNING

Titk criminal sittings of the Supreme Court will bo opened this morning, be-fore Mr, Justice Cooper, at 10 a.m., when the grand jury will be sworn in.

The list, of cases is- a fairly lengthy one, of 20 charges against 22 persons. It is as follows :—

Herbert Edward Nolan, forgery and uttering at Auckland. George Stephen Urlieli, theft from the wharf at Maungaturoto. Arthur Reginald Philips, alias Arthur Lawrie Philips, breach ot Bankruptcy Act (two charges). Tamehana Wirepa, murder and wounding, with intent, at Opotiki (two charges). Frederick Augustus Cartmann, carnally knowing a girl under 16 at Waihi. Garnet Campbell, manslaughter at Remuer.i.

Robert Long, theft from a dwelling at Auckland (three charges). James McKenna, indecent assault at Auckland.

William Albert .Murray, assault with intent to rob and robbery with violence at Auckland,

Leslie Stapleton, theft from tho person at Auckland.

James MeDcrmitt, alias McAuloy, breaking, entering, and theft from a dwelling at Auckland. Thomas White and Annie White, obtaining credit by fraud at Ngaruawahia. Patrick Alfred McGuirc, carnally knowing a girl under 16 at Newmarket. Robin Crago, demanding with intent to steal at Devonport. Paul Eugene Serin, breaking, entering, and theft at Auckland; assault, causing actual bodily harm at Auckland. James Grant, breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime and breaking, entering, and theft, both at Auckland. Henry Hoey, forgery at Kawakawa. Annie Monahan, wounding with intent to do actual bodily harm at Auckland. Patrick McManemin, theft of a maro at Pukokohe.

Chas. Daniel Murphy, breaking, entering, and theft at Auckland.

Thomas Smith, indecent assault at Tauranga.
