Wellington*. Thursday. Ax .notion for slander, which lias occupied the Supreme Court for three days and has created much interest, in the fruit trade, was decided this evening-. The plaintiff was Thomas Hood, fruiterer, of Wellington, and Griffiths and Co.. Ltd.. who carry on business as auctioneers in Wellington and Auckland, and John Braid, manager for the firm and formerly engaged in business in Thames, were joined as defendants. The basis of the action was a, dialogue at the defendants" fruit market.

After a lengthy retirement the jury returned a. verdict for the plaintiff for £250 and costs. Leave was given to. argue a nonsuit point.
