CONSOLS DOWN TO £75.
._——♦ By Telegraph.—lr«ss Association.—Copyright. , (Received July 16, 11,45 p.m^) London, July 18. Consols are quoted at £75. Consols have been falling during the past month. On June 20 the quotation was £76, which was sufficiently low to occasion remark. The following day'the price rose to J876 7s od, th© rally being attributed to a Statement by Mr. LloydGeorge (Chancellor of Exchequer), that he-intended to devote a portion of the big British surplus to the redemption of the National Debt. On Jane 28, Consols had risen to £7610.i, but on July 3 they had a,gain fallen to £76. Two days later they rallied to* £5*6 2s 6d, but since then they have been falling steadily.
