Wellington, Tuesday, A j>el*btation, introduced by Mr. Ck Newman, M.P/, -representing the Marton Racing Clab, to-day, waited on the Prime Minister and asked that the four days' racing given to the Marion Club should not be interfered with. The Prime Minister said that the Minister for Internal Affairs, Mr. H, I). Bell, had carefully considered both the Raagitikei and Marton Club's positions j and it had been decided that Marton shoukl be -reduced to three days, and two days should be given to Rangitikei, one of the metropolitan clubs to be reduced by one day to equalise matters. Although no legislation would be introduced during the present session, later on- legislation was in contemplation, making an exception in favour of hunt clubs, who were suffering Sonte hardships now, and they desired to giv«» inch clubs one day's racing a year. " The Marton Jockey Club, which prior ihe Eacing Commission's report had two days' racing, was given an extra two days, , and the Kaagitikei Club, which had four -days racing, was wiped out altogether in regard to racing permits, the commission thinking that the Marton Club would serve all curposes.
