"SCENE" AT BOARD'S MEETING.
As a result of developments yesterday, affairs at the Auckland Hospital seem to have reached tho gravity of a crisis. The following telegram was despatched to the Minister in gram was despatched to the Minister in Charge of Hospitals (tho Hon. G. W. Russell) by Dr. J. C. Pabst (chairman of tho hon. medical staff) prior to the meeting of tho Hospital Board yesterday evening: — "Conditions Auckland Hospital critical. Welfare patients imperilled. The hon. visiting staff, the senior resident medical officer, the junior resident medical officers, together with the sisters and certificated nurses, have urgently petitioned mc to send this message, praying your intervention. Otherwise deadlock unavoidable."-
The telegram was sent as a result of a petition sigued' by tho following members of tho honorary staff :--Drs. J. C. Pabst, T. Hope Lewis. E. 1). McKellar, Ernest Robertson, W. G. Scott, G. Bniton Sweet, W. K. Williams, J. Hardio Neil, Cyril H. Tewsley, A. Kinder, Tracy R. Inglia, S. A. Stride, and Mr. Core Gillon. Dr. Pabst last night received the following reply from tho Minister: —" I have received your telegram, which conveys to my mind a critical situation, Tam giving the matter my gravest consideration, and hope to-morrow to be able to wire you my decision in connection with your request."
