A MILLION FOR CHARITY.
MESSAGE FROM KING GEORGIA By Telegraph.—Press Association,— Qagjiig Sydney, May 27, A cable has been , seat to King George' by Lord Deiunan (Governor-General), announcing Mrs. W. B. Hall's gift of a mils lion to charity. The following reply was received from His Majesty:—"l neceived: With feeling* of much satisfaction and appreciation the announcement of, the munificent gift,"-" , 'Under the will of the late Mr. W. & Hall, of Mount Morgan mine fame, whose . estate is valued .at several millions, £50,000 was left,to charities in Now) ' South Wales and Queensland. Mrs. Hall, . ; as residuary legatee, has just decided to devote the income from a million,*pounds ,- to charities, half the proceeds going to New South Wales, and arquarter each to: Queensland and Victoria.
