The Sydney Moraine Herald states that Sir Joseph Ward was sounded prior to his departure for New Zealand by Sydney and Melbourne friends as to whether, if a seat were found, he would contest the nexfc Federal elections on the Liberal side. An assurance was given that this would not entail pecuniary sacrifice. The representations, however, were not made on bohalf of the Liberal party or its organisations.
