The Dunedin Fire Board held a special meeting this afternoon to roccivo a deputation from members of th© brigade in regard to alleged grievances. Foreman Duncan, on behalf of the men, asked that the ■ flieer in charge should have power to j.':-<idc the mr:i as first-class or senior, second-class, and third-class, tho men tobe raised to the different grades on the oiftcer's recommendation; a iirst-clase fireliwn to have a trial as officer if a vacancy occurred, and junior officers to bo given a trial if a vacancy occurred in a higher position; in the event of tho doputyauperintendentship becoming vacant the foreman to be appointed on trial, and the foreman's position to be filled from the senior division, and if the acting-deputy proves unsatisfactory, and the acting-iore-man satisfactory the latter to be appointed deputy on trial. The meeting was of a cordial nature, and the Board undertook to give the requests careful consideration. ================== I
