LAWN TENNIS.
PARNELL LAWN TENNIS AND CROQUET CLUB. The annual general meeting of members of the above club was held in the clubhouse, Parnell, .last night. Professor Segar occupied the chair. Considerable interest was evinced in the proceedings, owing to a paragraph in the report to the effect that the committee had in contemplation for next season a rearrangement of the playing areas devoted respectively to tennis and croquet, the intention being to considerably curtail the latter, so as to increase the number of tennis courts. On tho motion for the adoption of tho report, an amendment deleting this particular paragraph as an expression of disapproval of tho proposed action was carried by a large majority. Tho balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £145 19s 2d,. was adopted.
The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows 3—President, Professor Segar; vice-presideiats, Messrs. J. P. Stevenson. W. R. Holmes, W. Pavitt, and Professor erton : committee, Mrs. Brown, Mrs.. Tbornes, and Messrs. W. S. Douglas and R. Coates; hon. secretary, Mr. N. E. Ward; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. B. Simpson; on - auditor, Mr. G. Kant. Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Thornes were appointed delegates to the Croquet Associatioin, and Messrs. A. A. Martin and P. Hanna. delegates to the Lawn Tennis Association.
