CONDUCT OF TERRITORIALS.
PARENTS NEED HATE NO^FEAR.
[Br ffKIiEGBU3?H.--!-PBESS ASSOCIATION?] Wajsgiwui, Saturday, The territorial camp at Smithnelds broke up to-day, after ; a very useful period of training. In the course of an interviews Chaplain-Major Luxford, V who spent the whole period in camp with the men* spoke very highly of the behaviour of the lads, saying that their conduct was creditable to themselves and to the homes they came from. "If all the territorial; camps- are conducted like this , one," ho .said, "parents need not have any fear for the welfare' of their boys. '* So far as ho could observe, there was not the slightest sign of any liquor, and he did not believe that an ounce was smuggled into camp. Mr. Luxford says he was afforded every assistance by the officers of the regiment, who themselves set a good example to the men, and he considered the sergeantmajor instructors a fine stamp, and jnst the kind of men to influence the lads, for good. * ' •
Referring to the spending of evenings in camp, he ; argues that the authorities should provide bigger marquees and 'more of them, in order that all the men might be able to take part fin rational amusements, and spend the evenings pleasantly. The * moral leper" wants isolation when found to exist, and care should be taken that no tent is pitched ontside the camp boundary. He recognises the difficulty the authorities are under in these matters, but hopes that they will receive attention as early as possible. .. ~,-'••
