BUSINESS DONE ON SATURDAY

Business on the Stock Exchange on Saturday morning showed a decided improvement, the big mines all advancing to a marked extent over Thursday's closing Prices. The activity was no doubt due to the then latest news of the strike, which might havo been construed as favourable, and buyers stepped in, the market closing fairly firm. Talismans opened with sales at 42s 6d, and sold to 425, and up to 42s 2d, closing. with buyers still at this figure, sellers offering at 42s 6d. Waihia were fairly steady, selling at from 35s 9d to 36a. to 35s 9d, with sellers at closing quoting 35s 9d, buyors at 35s 6d. Waihi Grand Junctions showed a marked im provement, rising from 22s 3d to 22s 9d, with business at the latter figure during the last call, and sales reported also at the same price. Closing quotations wore 23s for sellers, 22s 6d for buyers. Salo3 also took place in Progress Mines at 6s, and Waitangis at lljd and lid. Standard stocks were neglected, except for a sale in Northern Steams (con.) at 7s 2d, with more wanted at this figure, closing sellers offering at 7s Throughout the list, other stocks showed little change. National Banks were quoted at slightly easier figures.
