THE TRAMWAY SYSTEM.
PROJECTED EXTENSIONS.
Towards the end of next month cars on the Kingsland line will run to the new terminus at Morningside. The construction of the new section was much delayed by the manner in which the reformation of the thoroughfare was carried out, but since it was undertaken by the Mount Albert Borough Council the work has progressed more rapidly, and .is expedited that tho tramway extension will bo completed by the end of June.
Preparations have been made for the construction of the line along the Great South Road to Ellerslio, but the work has been delayed until the legal preliminaries on the part of the local bodies concerned have been carried out. A .similar cause lias prevented a commencement with the extension of the Remuera line from Mountain Road to Victoria Avenue. The number of cars in commission on the Auckland tramway system is 125, an & three more are almost completed. The company's building programme for the next year comprises 20 new cars.
