Massey, M.P., has the double honour, according to a statement made at the Farmers' Union Conference, of being the first enrolled member of the union and the first member of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association. A large gathering of natives assembled at Omaha (Hawke's Bay) yesterday afternoon (telegraphs our own correspondent) to preset Sir James Carroll, and make him a presentation in testimony of the high esteem in which he is held by the Maoris of the surrounding districts.
