MINERS' DISPUTE.
READY TO " DOWN TOOLS."
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin', Friday. A meeting of representatives of the miners in the Green Island district was held to-night to consider the position in regard to the dispute at Christie's mine. A resolution was unanimously passed pledging the meeting to stand solidly by the men on strike, and to take every step necessary to get relief for the men concerned. '
Mr. Ridd, secretary of the Otago Coal Miners' Union, states that if the dispute does not very quickly come to a head, the New Zealand Federation of Labour will take charge, and all men in the Green Island district would then stand by their advice, and if they said, " Down toolSj" there would not be a pick raised.
The employers are standing by their determination not to go back on their position!
