BURGLARY AT DEVONPORT.
SOME MONEY STOLEN. I. The house of Mb. Schofield, an elderly widow, resident in Kerr-sltreot, Devonport, was broken into oil Wednesday evening by a burglar or burglars, and a small sum of money was stolen. 1 . Sohofield and her daughter,, Mrs. Tayloir, who reeides with hor, werei at a picture show, and Mr. Taylor wad out of town on business On return hcmie after . tiho show, the ladies found the 'furniture disarranged, and Mr. Taylor's clothes thrown about. A search of tho premises revoalod the fact that three Government post office miniature safes, containing over i>3, had been token. The operators, who evidently had local information, were after larger booty, but failed to discover its whereabouts. | Mr. Taylor is an enthusiastic collector of kauri gum and coins, his collections being of considerable value. These, however, were either not located, or the burglars were disturbed, and the ljejjult of the raid, therefor®, was practioall-p nil. The local police are investigating! the affair. ; : V !' ■ !
