ARCHDEACON OF WAIMATE.
REV. H. A. HAWKINS APPOINTED. Dn. Cjrosslet, Bishop of Auckland, has appointed the Rev. Hector Alfred Hawkins, Th. L., to be Archdeacon of Waimate, in succession to Ven. Archdeacon Walsh, resigned. The Rev. Mr. Hawkins was educated at Te Ante College and Biiihopdale, Nelson, and at College House, Ohristchurch, Canterbury University College. He was ordained a deacon at Waipn, in 1898, and a priest at Auckland in 1800. 'Ho was tutor at To Rao Theological College, Gisborne, from 1896 to 1898, and from 1900 to 1902. In 1902 he was superintendent of Maori work in the North Inland, and also diocesan superintendent . of Maori work, and in 1903 he waa appointed examining chaplain in Maori. Tho Rev. Mr. - Hawkins is a Th. L. of Now Zealand (iiratcluas).
