The cyclonic disturbance, now centred off the Ore.it Barrier Island, ruled the atmospheric conditions northward of fireymouth and Kaikoura, and south-east. gales prevail «vt. many stations, with gloomy weather and rain in many part*. Tho barometer 'ha* fallen low in the North, but remained steady and high in tho South. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. Present indications arc for south-easterly winds, strong to -i g,i,e, backing to southerly northward of Farewell Spit, and Kaikoura. with moderate to strong southerly winds elsewhere. Rain is probable over tho North Island, heavy -yi tho east const, and northern parts of tho South Island, and cool and chanjjj«able weather elsewhere. The barometer will probably rise everywhere , Iter about 10 hours. Heavy sens are expected at the East Cape, Kaikoura, "an i in Cook Strait.
