A young man named Mortimer and two friends were out shooting near Newnes (N.S.W.) last week, when the former picked up his gun, but in doing eo it slipped from his grasp, and fell into a, crevice, carrying another one with it. Both weapons exploded, and one charge struck Mortimer in the groin, at the same time exploding two cartridges in his pocket. Ho died almost instantly. Andrew Archibald a shiftsman, employed at the Abermain colliery (N.S.W.). had several ribs fractured and was injured internally through being run over by a skip at the colliery, and died in the Maitland Hospital next day from chock, consequent upon the injuries received. / \ Open letter to our M.H.8.: Do be consistent!
